Yes on Prop. 8

As many of you know, on Nov. 4th California voters will have the opportunity to vote to protect traditional marriage. Some may think that this is about hate and discrimination against same-sex couples. However, in California, the law provides for marriage-related benefits to be given to civil unions and domestic partnerships. Proposition 8 does not diminish these benefits.

Legalizing same-sex marriage does not only affect same-sex couples. It affects how our society views marriage as a whole. Young children will be taught in school that marriage can occur between any two adults regardless of gender. As a Health teacher, I can see that further acceptance of this definition of marriage will lead to schools expanding their sex education to include homosexual relationships.

I do believe that is important to be tolerant and love others regardless of the choices that they make. I also believe that there is a difference between being tolerant of others and condoning something that I know is wrong. If you agree with me and would like to keep marriage as defined to be between a man and a woman vote YES on Prop. 8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_Hmdcy_lvQ
